Back on reservoir watch, Fly Flatts

With a busy weekend coming up for Fly Flatts with the Sailing Club open day I thought Id better get up there with a good supply of Nyjer seed .
                                                                 1530 hrs and a greeting to Fly Flatts with dark black clouds, strong WSW>5 and heavy showers. This did,nt deter the birds with a good supply of waders along the west banking where they seemed happy on the cobbles although not through choice as already the shoreline in the SE corner is almost gone and will be non existent after another day of rainfall.
                                                   A group of 8 Herring gulls were at the far end of the west bank keeping their eye on Canada goslings hoping that one would split from the pack but the adult geese kept them tightly between them. Redshank were mobile and noisy with 5 present along with a good count of Common Sandpipers. Just 1 Dunlin today which flew across the water to the east banking.
                                                    Plenty Meadow Pipits , some carrying food but once again, strangely, no Skylarks.
A drive along the top road found 2 Barnacle geese in with Canadas in fields above the Sailing club whilst the Nolstar field was empty.
