Ned Hill Track/Soil Hill

Meadow Pipits pairing up on the hill

1515 hrs and a flying visit to Soil Hill to check the Ring Ouzel/ Wheatear situation.
First stop was a check on the goose field by the Ned Hill track to find yesterdays pair of Wheatear had moved through.
On then to Soil Hill where it seems the NW>5 had swept the hill clean of migrants with no sign of Wheatears or Ring Ouzel after a check of the clough and the tree line. Even the Teal had left the pond with just 1 Moorhen present.
Several Skylark were up singing and Meadow Pipits were pairing up and parachuting in display.
Down at the bottom the Shay fields held 28 Lapwing, 2 Curlew and 2 Oystercatchers whilst a kestrel was overhead along with 2 Herring gulls.
Hopefully with high pressure forecast tomorrow and a weather window through to France the migration flood gates will open.
