Soil Hill
Mallards on Soil Hill
Plenty Frogspawn out now but still chance of freezing.
A hazy Soil Hill late p.m. with visibility down to 2 miles and low cloud overhead with very little breeze. Another dark, non photographic day so nothing to test the Nikon on other than a pair of Mallards on the top pool which you could have taken with a Brownie 127, for those of you old enough to remember them.
The ponds are now filling up with frog spawn at the risk of still a good chance of freezing plus the local Heron hanging around.
With Snow Bunting now on the very unlikely list it was a change of tactics checking the north slope and Ring Ouzel clough for early returning Wheatear and Ring Ouzel although it is usually into April when both these species turn up.
Otherwise it was down to the usual Skylarks, Meadow Pipits etc with 3 Herring gull overhead heading for Oxenhope where the gull roost will soon be breaking up now unless it has already done so.
