With very little time late p.m. due to a dog to pick up from the vets and not bird friendly conditions on the hill with mist and light snow I took the opportunity to dash to Ogden to check the water on what looked like a good Whooper Swan day. Unfortunately I got it wrong but worth a try.
The water was quiet with just a few small gulls and the usual Mallards but I learnt later that the police had used their boat out on the water for the second day running looking for the missing Queensbury man who was last seen at Ogden. They,ve also done a search of all the woods.
Passerine alley was surprisingly busy with Gt, Blue and Coal tits but still no Long Tailed. Also present in the alley were 4 Goldcrest plus the usual Dunnocks, Wrens, Robins and Blackbirds. 4 Canadas were at the northern end of the water but otherwise quiet.
No Kingfisher down in the sluice gate and no sign of the Dipper this year yet.
