2nd winter Herring
A re run of yesterdays weather with a pleasant morning then horrendous by mid afternoon with fog and heavy drizzle on an increasing W>6.
I thought of giving it a miss at one point but thinking of the excellent morning with Goose and raptor movement I,d better give it a go.
Ogden at 1530 hrs was as bad, if not worse, than yesterday with heavy horizontal drizzle piling across a choppy water on a now near gale force W>6 gusting 7 with low scud clouds cutting visibility to half way across the reservoir.
Again high numbers of small gulls but today, peering out through the mist, were 5 big gulls where a slightly better view from the prom, without rain soaking the bins, turned out to be Herrings with 2 adult and 3 what looked like 2nd winter birds. A good report for Ogden so again making facing the elements worthwhile.
The Dipper was again down in the sluice gate area along with a Grey Wagtail.
It sounds like this sort of weather is due to continue over the weekend and into next week but at least its moving things around a bit.
