Dodging the Fog

                                                   Ogden fogged out
The Causeway Foot col from Soil Hill
                               Ogden from Soil Hill

A trip to Halifax after dinner showed blankets of fog spread around Calderdale, some in the valley, some on the tops like large clouds of smoke.
Late p.m. and Queensbury was blanked out in dense fog so hoping that Ogden was in the clear away I went.  Soil Hill was up above the fog as I passed but I thought I,d give it chance to recover after the snow so on to Ogden.
Things looked good as I parked up with no sign of fog but as I got down to the water a blanket of thick fog hung over the water cutting visibility down to about 30 yds and thickening so about turn and back up to Soil Hill.
I just managed to complete my usual circuit of the summits, track and mounds before the fog caught up with me but by this time my job was done.
The hill was lively with birds mostly on the west summit apart from the Reed Bunting and male Stonechat which were near the seed.
A little flock of 10 Meadow Pipits were lively along with 2 Skylark whilst a Moorhen was down on the NK pond with a cock Pheasant nearby. Two Mistle thrush were near the mast.
