1500 hrs and a quick zip around Soil Hill before dark only to find it very poor in favourable conditions.
A check of east and west summits, the mounds and the track produced nothing at all whilst even the skies were empty. It was just the one Magpie that stopped me from getting a complete blank.
Hope JL , who was also up there was luckier.
NK is hot on the trail of the gulls wearing leg rings that have turned up at Ogden recently, around 6 have been traced to being of Norwegian origin but the last Black Headed I got at Ogden a couple of weeks ago has been traced to Saxony ,SE Germany by Nigel, a first for Ogden from that region.
So it seems that Ogden is getting gulls from far and distant lands, more so over winter as thousands of gulls head for the Oxenhope gull roost.
If anyone see,s a local gull with a leg ring and can get to photograph or note the colours, numbers and which leg is colour ringed, please pass the info on to NK or myself to be forwarded on to Nigel.
Thanks to NK for the time and effort he puts into tracing the original location of these gulls.
