Soil Hill, late afternoon.

A 1 hour sky watch on Soil Hill summit produced very little in the cold easterlies after heavy rain showers. The expected Thrush movement never happened today nor did the geese so its likely to happen by mid week when hopefully the Fieldfares will come pouring through. Several of the Redwings are here now coming through in smaller numbers as well as after dark whilst Pink Footed geese seem to have been using the west coast route but we,ll soon be picking them up when they move across the trans Pennine route from coast to coast.
Back on the hill 6 Golden Plover went down on the Shay along with 16 Lapwing whilst 2 Swallows headed >S. On my Snow Bunt check I flushed 3 Common Snipe on the eastern summit one of which gave the impression of a Jack flying low and dropping down over the mounds but in the bins it was a Common.
Otherwise it was down to blogging Mipits and a welcome phone call from DJS which broke the boredom.
Anyway, thats the weekend over and I can get back to my Y.B. Warbler watch tomorrow p.m.
BS.
