                                            Pied Wagtail still feeding young

Leeshaw Reservoir. 0715-0915 hrs  Sunny intervals amongst black cloud. Strong W>6

The sound of silence this morning at Leeshaw with the call of  Curlew, Lapwing and Redshank gone.
1 possibly 2 Curlew remaining and a few Lapwing grouped on the moorland fringe whilst 4 noisy Oystercatchers were still present.
7 seperate moving Curlew went over >W very high and direct along with a steady stream of LBB gulls >N.
Pied Wagtails , Linnets and Meadow Pipits are still feeding young.

A quick check of Fly Flatts on the way back just produced a record number of Canada geese with a count of well over 400.
Strange how all last years Short Eared Owls have suddenly disappeared from the grouse moors this time !
