Interesting today to watch large parties of Swifts moving very high ahead of the weather fronts sweeping thunderstorms across the country.
A scorching hot morning then black clouds and thunder from late afternoon with heavy rain early evening and each time the black clouds rolled over large parties of Swifts would come through ahead of them very high and nearly out of sight.
Had to call at the vets early evening and the same thing happened there with a party of around 50 Swifts high over Pellon Lane, Halifax just before the heavens opened.
A few House Martins flew over the mill in the village at lunch time but hopes of this species breeding in the area is fading fast the same as the last few years.
Otherwise a typical June day with plenty singing and food carrying passerines but nothing on the move.
