Ogden, a flooded promenade
The tides come in at last
Plenty room now for waterfowl
Watered up lenses
Grim
Riding the waves
Raggalds Lake + an extra flood
Choppy water
An horrendous morning with fog on the tops, gale force WNW>7 to 8 and torrential rain.
With no sign of it easing and me climbing the walls by 0830 hrs and already soaked from an earlier dog walk it was off to Ogden to check the situation.
White horses steamed across the reservoir, now thankfully full to the brim, whilst trees were nearly bent double in the wind. The promenade was flooded above ankle deep and the track around the water was impassable , especially with 3 dogs in tow.
Around 80 small gulls were around the water plus the usual Mallards whilst a Cormorant headed over >E in the wind at about 200 mph, don,t know if it had meant to stop at Ogden or not?
On the way back a check of Raggalds Flood found it like a lake , as predicted by HC, with a large flooded area just over the wall.
The flood held 12 Mallard and 15 small gulls, mainly Commons whilst a flock of c60 Starling fed in the field to the south.
A real good drenching but at least I satisfied myself that nothing had dropped in to either site.
Hopefully will get chance to check Mixenden late afternoon.
