Mixenden, Cold Edge Dams and an amazing Ogden

  Thought they were Little Grebe diving on the small
 dam till mum appeared,

   Good flock of Linnets

  Ogden,This Herring gull had me ready to grapevine
a Yellow Legged with its bull head and bright gonys

 Until it got out of the water to show pink legs.

 So near , yet so far away.

    Alive with gulls, big and small

1600 - 1715 hrs  Mixenden and Cold Edge Dams

Mixenden was alive with beer drinking nuggets and just a few LBB gulls on the water so on to Cold Edge Dams.
Too sunny, too windy, W>6, and too busy with several people walking around the dams.
The small dam held 3 tiny divers which I thought belonged to the resident little Grebe there until the female Tufted showed up, a good breeding record for there.
A flock of 18 Linnets were mobile whilst a Curlew went over >W.
Otherwise it was down to a few Mallard and 10 Canadas on the lower dam.

Back home after tea a gut feeling told me to check Ogden now a move is on so off for a flying visit.
The east shoreline was awash with gulls counting 46 LBBs and 105 BHGs with a few more of the latter scattered around and on the water.
A stonking Herring gull stood out on the water looking to have the features of a Yellow Legged so finger on the grapevine button I waited until finally it came ashore to reveal pink legs. what a disappointment but still a good bird for Ogden.
Something has got to turn up here with the gull numbers building rapidly.
