Breeding success at Mixenden for the Mallard
Gt Crested Grebe still hanging around
Kestrels enjoyed the wind above Ned Hill track
1500 hrs and a visit to Mixenden reservoir soon told me I had picked the wrong venue. The place was alive with kids, dogs in the water, fishermen and plenty general nuggets.
The water was quiet with just the 2 Gt Crested Grebe and 2 pair of Mallard, one with 2 young.
A small flock of Coal Tits worked their way through the wood until the scramble bikes came which told me it was time to leave.
Several Swallows were over the water but no Swifts..
Back at the Ned Hill track the SSW>6 was howling through the col keeping things down. The Whitethroat made a two second appearance before disappearing down into the thicket never to be seen again.
Corvids and Kestrels enjoyed the wind with 3 of the latter over the hillside.
A few LBB gulls headed >NW and that was about it.
Passed DJSs car parked at Soil Hill so at least I knew the summit was getting checked.
