Queensbury Today
Photos courtesy Cllr Paul Cromie.
Cllr Paul Cromie kindly sent me these photos today of a male Gt Spotted Woodpecker pecking at trees in his garden and inspecting holes for possible nest sights.
I called down at dinner time but no sign of the bird but Paul is keeping a look out to see if it returns.
Meanwhile ...

Customer Gillian Chambers called in the garage today to tell me of a Goldcrest that has started visiting her Shelf Moor garden feeders regular having a taste for fat cake. This evening she kindly e mailed me this photo.
Thanks for that Gillian, not a common sight to have Goldcrests feeding in the garden. Hope it brings a mate for spring.
A glorious day in Queensbury with warm wall to wall sunshine and bright blue skies and very little breeze.
The Snow Bunting is still present on Soil Hill,NK, who also had a Red Kite which will have probably come over the garage area arriving with him from the >S but despite plenty sky watching it failed to return but having no wing tags it was probably a mover, see NKs blog for pics.
Whilst watching over the garage for Raptor movement several Herring gulls were going over very high and >W.
