Nice to get Common gull back still in summer plumage
Ned Hill rabbit attack, walking on the track
Sees me crouched in the grass
Decides to charge
Getting closer
and closer
Chickened out at the last minute
Handy conifers to squat under in the rain
Mixenden reservoir from the track
If you want a photo of a Redstart you,ll have to look in a book cos you ain,t going to get one off me.
Off I went on the Ned Hill track late afternoon in hope of a few Redstart pics with a mix of bright sunshine, torrential rain showers and always a near gale force W> 6-7.
The large bush the Redstarts favoured was almost being blown out by the roots but the birds yesterday were well down in the foliage at the base of the trunk so still a chance.
After a bit of a watch and no movement I walked down past the potteries to check the conifers, still with nothing,
Back at the large bush I gambled that if I hung around long enough the birds would show during a sunny period and by now I could,nt get any wetter so I squat down in the soggy grass by the track and waited, and waited, and waited and after nearly 1 hour I came to my senses and settled for a dip.
I think the birds must have moved on or dropped to lower ground for shelter but I,ll leave that one up to NK during the week.
Nothing else showing in the conditions other than a few small gulls in the fields and a mad rabbit that didnt seem to like me taking its pic.
