Raggalds Flood

There it was gone, bone dry

2 Canadas waiting for the water to return

A day of grey skies and heavy showers but this did nothing for the lack of water on the Raggalds Flood when I checked this evening.
The whole area is dried over but still the soft surface is inviting the birds.
A Grey Wagtail gave me a shock thinking for a moment I,d got a Yellow but no such luck this time.
3 Pied Wagtails were present along with 2 Canada geese, 3 Woodpigeons and a single female Wheatear.
2 Swallows were gliding through the mist but no return of the pair of Lapwings that attempted breeding last year and looked like they were settled here again a few weeks back.
An unconfirmed report today by a local of a Peregrine on the mill chimney this morning but this is more likely to be one of the local Kestrels.
