A bright start to the day lasting until mid morning when the clouds rolled in bringing heavy rain which lasted throughout the rest of the day until late afternoon.
In contrast to yesterday the early morning sky was quiet with a few Woodpigeons but in small flocks and coming from the NE heading south totalling about 100 birds in all.
No sign of Thrushes or Meadow Pipits today in the bright blue skies and lunch time up Foxhill park was a washout.
A customer report today of 3 Woodcocks flushed down the old railway station near the Queensbury to Holmfield tunnel entrance, a regular area for them at this time of year, must try get down there sometime although dark nights restricts birding hours.
With Snow Buntings around the area now,( B.O.G.) its only a matter of time before we get a visit on Soil Hill so will have to give it the once over this weekend.
I,ll be glad when the next 10 days are over and we get rid of the dreaded fireworks leaving me with 3 spooked dogs which end up shivering wrecks. Its not the fireworks and bonfires I,m against, its the silly atomic explosions making it like living in Afganistan. Im sure they dont need to make them so loud but maybe its just me growing old, gone are the days of penny bangers and jumping jacks.
