A cold day with heavy showers driven on by a strong W>6 which eased as the day went on turning NW this evening and is forecast to turn northerly tomorrow hopefully bringing Pinkies and Redwings followed by Fieldfare which will be making an appearance shortly.
The Rowan trees are packed with fruit making a good invitation for the winter thrushes to stay in the area as long as they leave some for the Waxwings which will start showing next month depending whether or not its a good year for them.
Another bird for next month is Snow Bunting, so Id better start getting myself back up Soil Hill to catch some going through. Last year I managed to get the first through on Nov 03rd but from then onwards it was a poor year for them.
A steady flow of Meadow Pipits took place this morning stopping by 0930hrs after which Wood Pigeons took over with 3 decent size flocks all >S.
A single Swallow was good to see over Foxhill park at lunch time and may be my last this year although a few years back I had 2 Swallows over the ski lake at EGP on the 30th of November.
Get those winter woolies out for tomorrow.
