Avoiding the westerlies, / Doe Park

Despite perfect water levels, no waders

New cut silage field
                                                        Starlings galore

In an attempt to avoid the strong westerlies late afternoon I thought I,d check out Doe Park for waders an/or migrant passerines, neither of which were present.
Even down at that level the strong W>6 was blowing keeping the small stuff down in the undergrowth and emptying the skies.
A few Black Headed and Lesser Black Backed gulls were present whilst several Mallard were on the water.
A single Moorhen walked the far shoreline and a noisy Jay kept to the shelter of a tree,

Back up at the quarry a flock of c80 Linnets were mobile along with around 30 Goldfinch, whilst nearby,  a newly cut silage field held a massive flock of Starling and small gulls.

A weekend spoilt with the strong winds but after an afternoon shopping at Owlcotes this evening was heaven.
