Extreme Birding

With the weather making a turn for the worse late pm and fog on the hills I took another visit to Leeshaw reservoir, 1700-1800hrs in heavy rain, low cloud and a cold WNW>4.
Luckily at Leeshaw you can park in view of the water so with the scope set up under the shelter of the tailgate I patiently waited for the grim weather to bring something through as conditions were perfect for waders and Terns.
Several Curlew were moving through >N in parties of 3 and 4 briefly landing on the shoreline before moving off. Each party had to be checked to make sure no Whimbrel were sneeking through.
Waders moving were 3 Common Sandpipers and a single Little Ringed Plover all barely scopeable in the conditions.
No Osprey, Terns or wildfowl tonight but one of those evenings when anything could have turned up.
Good to bump into the 2nd dedicated birder up there today when Keith Moir called with the same ideas as me.
