Planned to go to Old Guy Rd to try photograph the Whinchat after Nigels report but the dogs had other ideas for me so ended up taking them to Ogden which turned out well as a tractor was working the field where the Whinchat hangs out.
A moment of heart stopping panic as I scanned the reservoir in the bright low sun when I picked up the Gt Crested Grebe with what looked like 2 Common Scoter but as I got to a better position they turned out to be 2 Tufted, phew.
Swarms of biting midges were around the waters edge bringing out several tit flocks with Great, Blue and Long Tailed which annoyingly keep flitting in the Willows making them near impossible to snap.
About 20 BHGs were on the water + the usual 2 LBBs.
On the way back 2 Wheatear were near the opening of the Ned Hill track.
Mipits were again moving this morning between 0645 and 0730 hrs but as the sky turned blue the movement ceased.
Several House Martins were moving >W over Foxhill at midday.
