Ringby Top late afternoon / Ogden early evening

Plenty blogging Meadow Pipits on Ringby

  Distant golden plover, Ringby

Starlings homing in on Elderberries, Ringby
 Garden Starlings in winter plumage
               Hazy low sun, Ogden.

With a hope of rescuing the day by finding DJSs Stonechat and possibly fly over geese it was up to Ringby Top 1500 hrs only to find no Stonechat and terrible visibility in the hazy sunshine.
Around 80 Meadow Pipits were blogging up there whilst the Goldfinch flock is down to around 40.
A pleasant surprise was a Golden Plover which flew past heading >S over Halifax. Unfortunately it was between the hazy sun and me so by the time I got a shot it was half way over Halifax. An unusual sighting up there and at least it gave me the will to live, if only short lived.
Otherwise that was it other than the usual corvids and plenty Starlings attacking the Elderberries.

My third and final attempt to save the day was a check of Ogden at 1800 hrs in the hope of Wigeon or Scoter on the water but not to be. the water is at an all time low now though too late for waders other than a straggler or two.
Everything was in deep silhouette on the water but visibility was enough to see there were no megas on there. Twelve Canadas were probably the Fly Flatts birds whilst around 50 small gulls were rapidly leaving to roost.
Here endeth a dreadful birdless weekend, at least it can only get better.
