Blankety Blank

Sun going down from Ned Hill
            Crane at the wind farm
                         Great balls of fire

        There it was gone.

A late afternoon walk on the Ned Hill track produced not a single bird in the cold NW>4 and the same result from 30 minutes sky watching. All the migrants from the thistles and trees have moved on and the only sign of bird life was several Swallows skimming the conifers for flies.
35 Canada geese were down in the field below the track.
Negative results on the Taylor Lane Cuckoos which are probably half way to Africa now, and the same on the Roper Lane Redstarts.
No Whinchats up Old Guy Rd and a cricket match on the pitch so no birding there. These Queensbury cricketers have no respect for birders, playing on the pitch and disturbing the birds.
So back home with an empty camera and notebook which is amazing for September, even the Meadow Pipits are holding back on vis mig either late going or using the coastal route.

After being nattered all evening at the lack of results I gave Ned Hill another stab at last light scoped up and hoping for something slipping through the Causeway Foot Col.
Things were a little livelier with several small gulls heading to roost as well as 3 Kestrel and 2 Sparrowhawk. Even the sunset was spoilt as it dropped into cloud before it hit the horizon, oh well tomorrows another day.
Only good thing today was its Lyndas birthday but she did,nt seem too happy about being another year older.
