Soil Hill Snow Buntings Jan/Feb 2012.

Jan/Feb 2012 was an amazing time for Soil Hill Snow Buntings

             Many stayed several weeks

                           Dark phase sp.

                              Poser sp.

Got fed up of photographing them in the end

Just a reminded at what the excitement is about searching Soil Hill for Snow Buntings.
Every year varies but birds are seen on a yearly basis, sometimes briefly, sometimes birds staying for several weeks as in Jan/Feb 2012 when the hill held a total of 9 birds on a snow covered hill.
Although the hill is well overgrown this year there are still plenty bare gravel areas ideal for the Bunts to feed so watch this space over the next 4 month.

A foggy start this morning but soon clearing to leave a pleasant clear day with nothing moving other than a scattering of Woodpigeons showing yet another visible migration is at an end.

Not to be dismayed, its wildfowl season  next watching the skies and reservoirs for winter ducks, swans and geese.
