Red Kite, Shelf Moor

The birding god certainly looked down on me tonight whilst on a trip to Tesco.
Had to do my weekly trip taking the step mother from Shelf Moor to Tesco and nearly didnt put the camera in my pocket as it was last light but thought Shelf Moor could produce a Little Owl.
As I drove down Shelf Moor road about to turn round to her house I saw a very high raptor soaring and just thought Sparrowhawk but as I got half turned and saw its size up to the mobbing corvids I switched to Buzzard. A quick stop and jumped out of the car and as I was getting the camera from my pocket ,
RED KITE.!!  Only managed record shots as it was coming dark and the bird was high up slowly gliding >NW in the direction of Ogden whilst I was stood on the white line with the car half blocking the road, didnt half get some foul looks.
My instincts were to jump in the car and get in front of the bird but the step mother came out with the face on so thought it best to get to Tesco.
