Fly Flatts.

Lapwings numbers building on the east shore.
                                   Across to the SE corner
                                           Canada geese up to 44.
                                North along the west banking
Plenty noisy Red Grouse on the moor

1500 hrs on a grey but pleasant afternoon with a mild NW>4.
Birds still arriving daily with Canadas now up to 44 whilst Lapwings on the east shoreline gave a count of 26 along with the usual Mallards on and around the peninsular. At least 2 Curlew were calling across the moor with a Kestrel overhead. The only small passerines were 3 Meadow Pipits.
Camera wise an afternoon of missed opportunities,  with firstly, as I was approaching Fly Flatts 2 Raven were at the side of the road with a rabbit carcass but by the time I saw them and pulled up they flew, so that was the first good picture missed.
The second miss was as I was on the phone at the SW corner and 2 Golden Plover flushed from close by and flew directly over me disappearing across the moor.
The last miss was as I was loading the tackle into the car 4 small wader types flew low over the sw corner and disappeared below the banking. Had it been May I,d have said they were Dunlin as they looked too small and fast for Goldies but I,ll have to put them on the list of " cud av bins ".
