Waders on the move. Raggalds Flood.

         Raggalds Flood, pulling them in.
                               Little Ringed Plover

                                      Then there were two.

What started off as a quick check of the Raggalds Flood at 1615 hrs turned into a photo session instead leaving little time for Soil Hill. A scan with the bins soon turned up 2 Redshank along with 2 Little Ringed Plovers. The last Plovers here were in heavy rain so just a few record shots but this evening was brightish and dry so time to get Big Bertha in action.
With tripod up and camera at the ready it was a matter of waiting until the Plovers moved out into the open away from the reeds which they eventually did.
Such small birds with a bad background and at great distance is a recipe for disaster but working at 600mm AF and 840 mm MF Bertha did the job and got some half acceptable results.
Also present were 2 Wheatear on the stone pile, a few Swallows overhead, 1 Sparrowhawk and 1 DJS who its always good to bump into.
A quick check on the Soil Hill hot spots found that there are no Ring Ouzels present as yet but beware, 2 pairs of Blackbirds, one down the tree line and one down the clough.
