                                                          Oyks

            Thought this was my Tern
But not my tern, Black headed gull

Oxenhope Reservoir   1700-1800 hrs. Cool E>4 hazy cloud and showers. Vis Baildon Moor

Despite YW promising to keep the water down this summer the shore line is now submerged apart from the NW corner.
Gulls were plentiful with around 200 LBBs, coming and going throughout the watch ,  along with 5 Herring gulls, none of which were Yellow Legged.
Waders present were 3 Oystercatchers, 1 Redshank, 4 Curlew and 1 Golden Plover otherwise it was down to Swifts, Swallows, Mipits and Linnets with Mallard, Canada and Greylag all with young.
One heart stopping moment occurred as I was walking back along the banking when a Tern like bird flew over the water high up in the mist heading north. I threw down the scope and tripod and rattled a dozen photos off only to find on examination that it was a solitary Black Headed gull.
Just when I thought my Tern had come it was really me having a funny Tern.
