By lunch time the weather had broken with light rain getting heavier as the afternoon went on.
A check around Old Guy Rd produced 1 distant Wheatear beyond the cricket pitch and at least 5 singing Skylarks.
The pitch held 3 male Pied Wagtails and 4 Meadow Pipits whilst 3 LBB gulls went overhead >W.
Roper Lane watch point was quiet and a check on last years Redstart wall failed to produce.
A check on Raggalds Flood for Yellow Wagtail only turned up 2 Lapwing, a Canada goose and several Starling.
A report today from Cllr Cromie saying that the 5 Canada gosling that hatched in his garden are still doing fine and growing well. Another 6 Canada geese have taken up residence in the field adjoining his garden but are seen off by the parent geese if they try to get closer.
When Paul goes in his garden and whistles the family of geese dash across to the pond and wait to be fed.
My idea of joining Halifax sailing club for safe parking at Fly Flatts fell flat today after a few enquiries with them having a strict rule of no dogs , animals or pets of any kind around the clubs premises so going on my love me love my dogs rule thats the end of that idea.
