Siberian Fly Flatts

                                          Low cloud base Fly Flatts
                                          Cloud skirting the moor top
                                               Not photographic light.
                                                   Greylags moving >N

A real Siberian morning at Fly Flatts with a strong WSW>5 and heavy snow showers turning to sleet then rain before drying up mid watch.
No sign of returning migrants yet with the moors and water deathly quiet.
A few Mallard were on the water whilst 2 Greylag headed >N very high. Red Grouse were calling on the moor along with a few Carrion crow and a Stonechat gave me a fleeting glimpse before dropping back down into reeds near the boathouse.
A drive on the top road failed to find anything although a heart stopping moment made me think Snow Bunting when something white flashed low across the road about 50 yds in front of me and over the fence. A good check of the area failed to find anything so had to dismiss it as a cud av bin. It may even been a piece of paper , who knows, as a second check 15 minutes later still did,nt prove anything.
The top road now is a shambles with deep pot holes due to the wagons up there which have also churned up the winter feeding area.
Dave S.. I have stopped feeding on the top road now and starting early March I,m going to concentrate back down at the original feeding station with plans of really giving it some stick with the Nyger to try bring the Twite back.
