p.m. Northowram / Coley.

                         Plenty Blackbirds around the area

                                                         Coley church

A check on Northowram CC area and the top of Jagger wood was good to get away from the snow brigade out in force with skis, ski sticks and sledges all dressed in their Swiss Alp suits including shaded goggles, a bit much for Foxhill Park or maybe its just me doing my Victor Meldrew bit.
The long hedge was quieter than my last visit, now lacking the Tree Sparrows and Reed Buntings but the first thing of note was the number of Blackbirds present with 15 counted all at the top end of the hedge and in the field.
The hedge itself produced Goldfinch, House Sparrow, Blue and Gt Tit plus Robin and Dunnock. The top of Jagger wood was disappointing with just a Wren and 2 Dunnocks along with 7 Magpies.

Copley just did,nt want to play and the fields that are usually heaving with winter thrushes and Wagtails held just a few corvids.
Otherwise it was down to 8 Blackbirds, 2 Robins and 3 Blue Tits. Where are all our passerines?

Luckily this weekend has been saved by DWs Golden Plovers so a big thank you to a sharp eyed Dave.
