Dinnertime Dip

With DWs report of Goldies yesterday and a call from JL today reporting c 40 Golden Plover showing well in with the Lapwing flock, see Bradshaw Johns blog, I rushed my dinner down , raced the dogs around the park then, camera at the ready, headed off  for what I thought was an easy target.
First stop was this mornings reported location checking all the fields around the Bonnet and down past Taylor Lane with negative results.
Next move was on to Keelham Farm then a check of all the fields back past a frozen Raggalds Flood and on to Pit Lane to check the football pitches, still nothing, not even a Lapwing.
A quick about turn and on Roper Lane to scan all the fields around Bradshaw before driving up Perseverance Road but still nothing.
After another check of fields down the Bonnet time was running out so as a last attempt it was down to Shelf Moor but still no Lapwings in sight, how can 200 + birds suddenly disappear.
With time now expired it was back to work with an empty camera and a Billy bad head on.
A great find by DW and a good report and pics by JL on a record number of Goldies for Queensbury.
I,ll be back on their tail this weekend.
