Seeing the day out on a wet note. Mixenden etc.

                          Lapwing flock over Raggalds Flood
                           Moved away high and >E

By the time I arrived at Mixenden reservoir this afternoon at 1500 hrs the dark clouds were over and heavy drizzle on a strong W>5 but very mild. The road by the Hebble Brook was well under water so a diversion had to be taken.
The water was poor with just 2 pr Mallards and about a dozen small gulls whilst LBB gulls moved overhead >SW.
On then to Soil Hill but the sky was now so dark cutting visibility so a second attempt at Raggalds Flood.  As I approached a flock of 49 Lapwings had just lifted off rising high and away >W. At first they started to circle but then thought against it and moved on.
Meanwhile the water held 15 Mallard and 22 small gulls so with visibility nearly gone it was back home, wash the car and a bit of tea after a disastrous attempt of a days birding, roll on next weekend.
