Raggalds Flood Returns

Good Thistle patches attracting Goldfinch and Linnet
                                A good supply of Mallard

After a text from JL this morning reporting water back on the Raggalds Flood and holding Mallards I thought I,d better do a dinner time dash up there to check it out for wildfowl and Yellow Wagtail.
28 Mallard were on the water whilst 3 Lapwing stood on the shoreline along with 1 Pied and 1 Grey Wagtail.
Several Swallows were feeding over the water whilst the thistles there held a mixed flock of around 100 Goldfinch and Linnet

Vis mig this morning was dismal in the low cloud with just 6 Mipits over >S.

Two good reports today, firstly from NK who checked out Ringby top and after getting Twite calls he got a brief distance glimpse of 2 dark finches on wires which he believed to be Twite.
He also clocked a distant Buzzard.

The second report was from HC at his Oxenhope watch point just after midday with a Red Kite over Clayton heading my way.
After a good watch from the car park, camera in hand, I had to accept that the bird must have passed to the south of me out of sight.
Thanks to HC , NK and JL for the calls reminding me that there is life outside the garage.
