Horton Country Park

                Part frozen but lively

My first local Mute Swans for 3 yrs
             Plenty Coots and Moorhens

          Both Swans leg ringed

Heavy snow most of the day leaving a deep covering and roads bad.
Hard to believe that I had to dig the car out and struggle to get out of the village to find no snow what so ever in Halifax.
After the shopping spree it was a matter of finding somewhere accessible in the snow so Horton Country Park was the venue which was part frozen but looking like a place that needs watching more.
Two Mute Swans were a rarity for me in my area not having had one for the last 3 years so a bonus.
At least 9 Coots were present along with 5 Moorhen and a pair of Mallard whilst a pair of Tufted flew over.
Good to put a face to Bradford birder Jamie Brass who I bumped into re visiting his old hunting grounds, Park Dam now being his local patch.
Awaiting news from NK as to the whereabouts of the Mute Swans when he traces the ring numbers.
