A Reet Good Saturday Soaking

Peering through the rain at Ogden
Female Goosander at Ogden
Grey Wagtail on the promenade

                 High tide at Raggalds Flood
                      Canadas lapping it up

With a late start it was 1615hrs when I arrived at Ogden in a strong SSW>5 and heavy drizzle, ideal I thought for passing Terns.
As I got near the water the wind eased and the rain came down in stair rods continuing torrential for an hour.
After the first 5 minutes I was dripping wet and soaked to the skin so after that it does,nt matter so it was on to do a circuit of the water . Peering through the sheets of water a small bird was near the waters edge at the north end but quickly disappeared into the vegetation before I could wipe the rain and mist off the bins but it was either Moorhen or Little Grebe.
Out on the water near the middle were a pair of Goosanders, 2  1st year LBB gulls and 1 adult LBB gull along with the usual Mallards whilst a Grey Wagtail worked its way along the promenade looking for grubs.

Back up on the Ned Hill track, and still in pouring rain, a Whitethroat made a brief appearance in the usual area along with 4 Linnets and 2 Goldfinch.
Soil Hill was now above the low cloud base so thankfully no reason to go up there.

It made the soaking worthwhile on the way back to find the Raggalds Flood up at high tide which will hopefully hold for a while.
Just 2 Canadas were present.
