Shelf Moor, last light count.

Snipe count, down to 17 last light

                                    Lapwings settled and countable
Bombers moon. Could,nt make out the Chinese buggy thats up there
                                    Sparrowhawk effect on the Lapwings.
                                       Snipe coming in to roost

Heron leaving the area to roost

With only 30 minutes left to last light when I was clear of other duties  it was back to Shelf Moor to check the Lapwing/ Snipe count which was low in both instances.
Got three parts through counting the Lapwing flock 4 times when each time they were spooked by the horses and lifted off before landing so I could start the count again.
Just before I left at near dark a Sparrowhawk came over flushing the flock which moved lower down towards Shelf roundabout.
Snipe were active but several moved over to the Spaniard Hall quarry site.
A heart stopping moment when a small bird landed at the edge of the marsh which I thought was a Lapland Bunting until I got on it properly and found it was a winter plumaged Reed Bunting which was then joined by a second bird.

226 Lapwing
17 Snipe
2 Reed Bunting
c100 Starling
6 BH gulls.
1 Sparrowhawk
2 Kestrel
