Oxenhope

                                       Sunshine, showers and rainbows
High count of Mallards on the lagoons
Some lucky Red Legged Partridge left.

A late afternoon visit to Oxenhope proved quiet with bright sunshine and clear blue skies on a WSW>4.
Started off well with an unusually high count of 104 Mallards crammed onto the small lagoon with drake birds still in eclipse, but unfortunately that turned out to be the highlight of the visit.
Around 200 gulls were on the water, these being mainly Black Headed and the smaller percentage Lesser Black Backed.
Several Red Legged Partridge were around along with a few Pheasant whilst 2 Kestrels were mobbed by Jackdaws. A good number of Meadow Pipits were around the top fields ready for the off and a check of the wood found nothing untoward.
Thanks to HC for the text this morning reporting a Marsh Harrier around the watchpoint, wish it had hung about till tea time.
