Mega Pinkie Day, but not for Queensbury.

Another grey damp day with periods of fog pm but a real mega moving day for Pink Footed Geese and winter Thrushes, see Andy Cockrofts Northowram blog and Calderbirds for details.
Several skeins of Pinkies were seen moving throughout the day right until darkness but today they were moving >W as opposed to yesterdays NW movement which meant today the birds were passing to the south of the village so no sightings here.
Midday in the park found just a few LBB gulls heading west and one possible suspect of a GBB but unable to tell without optics.
A customers report today of 2 Woodcock down the old railway station but a lot of disturbance at the moment as the old tunnel from Queensbury to Holmfield is being repaired.
Just got a report in from HC, BOG, of a skein of Pinkies over Oxenhope in the dark this evening and 25 Waxwings over his daughters house in Queensbury at midday. A near miss for me as the house is 5 minutes from the garage in the direction that I walk home and the sighting was at 12:15 just as I was coming out of work. If it was,nt for bad luck Id have no luck at all.   Thanks for that Howard.
