Soil Hill   1500-1600hrs. Icy cold  N > 4 , sunshine, clear skies and good visibility. 0 deg.

Off to a good start with 2 passerines flushed from the start of the mounds but unfortunately they were between the bright setting sun and me but the dumpy Bunt type shape and jizz made me think Snow Buntings   as they dropped down in the mounds a bit higher up. However after 30 minutes scrummaging about in the mounds nothing was re located which, if they were Snow Buntings Im sure Id have found them again so will have to add them to the list of Cud av Bins.
By this time the light had almost gone so it was time to up stumps with 2 Magpies, 4 Crows and a skylark under my belt until, walking down the track 4 very distant large birds were heading >SW towards Saddleworth Moor and scoped turned out to be geese looking like Pink Footed.
