Elland Gravel Pits in years gone by.

                                           How things change.

Flicking through some of my old photos I came across these two Id taken of EGP during the days of the old cooling towers and land fill site in the early 1990s when Sedge Warbler, Yellowhammer and Lesser Whitethroat were common and even a Spotted Sandpiper turned up in May 1990 and attempted breeding with a Common Sandpiper. Peregrine was often seen sat on one of the towers. Miss those land fill sites!

A count of 58 Common gulls were in Foxhill park at 0630 this morning which is the highest numbers yet this year, by midday 14 were left. Quiet skies today other than a few early Mipits over >W and a call from DCB reporting seeing the SEO over Soil Hill.
