Fly Flatts

Proof of Common Sandpiper breeding at Fly Flatts. 1 of 3.

                                      Ad Common Sands

                                       Twite creeping back

                                              LBBs moving over

                                                  Good Swift movement

A terrible morning starting on arrival at 0700hrs with near gale force WSW>7 and drizzle. By 0745 the wind had veered  SW>5 with heavy rain followed by horizontal pounding drizzle, and by 0945 dense fog, lovely.

Good to see Common Sandpiper have bred despite the high water level  and a pair of Twite came onto the seed.
Swifts were piling over >W and strangely only 1 Curlew was seen, maybe due to the weather or some have started to move.

7 Common Sandpiper + 3 juvs
1pr Twite
c400 Canadas
5 Greylag with 5 young
1 Curlew
18 Swallow >Ws
c 150 Swifts >SW
8 LBB gulls >W
