Appearing out of the fog
Yet another amazing day with Fieldfare and Redwing all heading >W then >SW from the word go.
Low cloud and heavy rain early on did,nt deter the birds as they flew through below the cloud base in their hundreds. Again flocks were up to 300 but unlike yesterday the mad exodus slowed down after midday with one or two waves over and many single stragglers dropping into trees.
Many of the larger flocks were far to the east of me taking them over Bradford which will account for the massive record of 30000 birds over Caldene fields seen by MP, BOG.
Small numbers of Woodpigeons were on the move today >S and a tight group of 16 Siskins came over the garage also >S.
Coal Tits were on the garden feeders today which is highly unusual .
Mid morning, 4 Pink Footed geese powered over very fast and low heading >E.
These are two days that will go down in local birding history.

I think they must have been going high over the top of me at Cold Edge Bri, or heading down the valley rather than hitting the bank of fog where I was. I was a bit miffed especially when I got up by the ski slope later and they were piling through there. A great do at Caldene Fields - amazing count of thrushes - not to mention the Brent Geese!
Keep up the good work up there!
