The Breeding Season

As from now until the end of the breeding season birds of a sensitive nature will be omitted from this blog due to a small percentage of undesirables who take their pleasure from egg collecting, nest destroying and the killing and trapping of birds.
Reports of non breeding birds moving through the area will still be published. BS

Ogden tea time visit

Excuse quality of photos due to conditions

Ogden. 1645-1800 hrs Atrocious conditions with strong WNW>6 carrying heavy drizzle across the water.

Thought better of Soil Hill which was up in the clouds so hoping the birding saying Foul weather is Fowl weather was right I decided to check Ogden for the second time today. The 9 Wigeon were still present though being bullied by Mallards if they strayed too far from the waters edge.
About 300 small gulls, 60% Black Headeds, were on the water and birds still coming in from the direction of Mixenden but no sign of the Gt Crested Grebe but the visibility was so poor and water so rough it may have escaped me.
A large female Sparrowhawk swooped across the water putting the gulls up briefly and a Tawny Owl was calling from the lodge house area.
