The Breeding Season

As from now until the end of the breeding season birds of a sensitive nature will be omitted from this blog due to a small percentage of undesirables who take their pleasure from egg collecting, nest destroying and the killing and trapping of birds.
Reports of non breeding birds moving through the area will still be published. BS

Ogden

A calm bright evening

Ogden, evening visit.

A once round Ogden this evening provided nothing other than the norm but it got my legs functioning again after 2 days of sitting in a classroom.
Over at the Leeds testing station today around 100+ House Martins were over the area and landing on wires above the fields whilst several Swallows were moving through >S early on this morninmg. By lunch time only a handful of House Martins were left.

Ogden this evening held around 250 gulls, mainly Black Headed with about 20% Common and 3 LBBs. The Little Grebe was still present along with one Tufted and 1 Grey Heron. Swallows were moving well >SW over Ned Hill.
Has anyone had a Sept Swift yet ?

You get your postings on in smart time Bri - no housework to do tonight then!!!
After a struggle to find nesting House Martins this year there seem to be plenty moving through with a lot at Mixenden Res and the valley up to Ogden this week and over Lee Mount today. The Swift caused quite a stir in our household as it passed over at 4 pm (we spent all afternoon looking for them as we sat out in the garden thinking about all the jobs to do!

What a leisurely life you lead over there at Lee Mount. Well spotted anyway.
