The Breeding Season

As from now until the end of the breeding season birds of a sensitive nature will be omitted from this blog due to a small percentage of undesirables who take their pleasure from egg collecting, nest destroying and the killing and trapping of birds.
Reports of non breeding birds moving through the area will still be published. BS

Another wet Sunday

A very grey Ogden
OGDEN. 0800-0930hrs. Heavy drizzle, SSW>3 increasing SSW>5 bringing heavy rain and mist.

A rapidly deteriorating morning starting off grim and ending up atrocious, normal Sunday stuff.
Even in the wind and rain Ogden is starting to sound like spring with bird song in the air, even a Song Thrush was up singing.
The water was deserted other than a low count of Mallard for this time of year and 1 BH Gull was in amongst them.
Several tit flocks were mobile with Goldcrests mixed in and a small flock of Siskin headed towards the Giants tooth.
A reward came with a call from a Nuthatch followed by a quick glimpse as it dived for cover near the feeder below the car park, ( its alright for you Denise, you can watch them from the comfort of your own home, Ive to stand in the pouring rain for a quick glimpse of a tail).
Just hoping now for a miracle weather recovery for late afternoon so I can get another stab at it but Im not holding my breath.

4 Siskin
3 Goldcrest
1 Song Thrush
38 Mallard
1 BH Gull
8 Coal tit
1 Nuthatchs tail
usual tits, robins,wrens, dunnocks etc.

About time Song Thrush turned up, I haven't recorded one this year yet.

This was in the usual place above the info office. Possibly the same bird as last year?
