The Breeding Season

As from now until the end of the breeding season birds of a sensitive nature will be omitted from this blog due to a small percentage of undesirables who take their pleasure from egg collecting, nest destroying and the killing and trapping of birds.
Reports of non breeding birds moving through the area will still be published. BS

Rowan berries/ menu of the day

Blackbirds and Starlings going mad over Rowan berries.

A bright day from start to finish ,( it would be its Monday), with thick cloud hanging in the valleys. Looking down from Queensbury it looked like snow with only the chimney pots showing.
It started off as if it was going to be a good moving day but as the sun got higher in the cloudless sky it trickled to a halt.
Meadow Pipits were coming over >S early doors along with a few Redwing and Wood Pigeons but nothing spectacular.
Mid day Blackbirds and Starlings were squabbling over the Rowan berries with some urgency as if they knew the Scandinavians were on their way. Anytime now we should be over run with Redwing and Fieldfare although moving Meadow Pipits have put on a poor show this year with any big numbers missing us and presumably sticking to the coast line.
